About

CADISS – The Council of African & Diasporic Indigenous Spiritual Systems

CADISS is a global organization founded with a clear and sacred purpose: to honor, protect, and elevate African Indigenous Spirituality and its diasporic expressions. As the wisdom of our ancestors continues to echo through rituals, symbols, and sacred practices, we rise to ensure these traditions are no longer ignored or dismissed—but embraced, celebrated, and safeguarded for future generations.

We envision a world where African spiritual systems stand tall among global faiths—respected for their depth, beauty, and contribution to humanity’s spiritual and cultural tapestry.

Why We Exist

In an age where interfaith dialogue and religious freedom are celebrated, African Indigenous Spirituality remains disproportionately marginalized. Its practitioners face ignorance, misrepresentation, and legal invisibility. Despite being the spiritual roots of millions across the globe—both on the continent and throughout the diaspora—our traditions are too often reduced to myth or folklore, stripped of legitimacy in mainstream discourse.

At CADISS, we see this as a profound injustice. We exist to challenge this marginalization, to reclaim space for our spiritual heritage, and to nurture communities that live and breathe these sacred ways of being.

CADISS

Our Mission

We advocate for full recognition, legal protection, and global inclusion of African and Diasporic Indigenous Spiritual Systems. Guided by the Equality Act 2010 and Article 9 of the Human Rights Act 1998, our mission is to:

  • Defend the rights of practitioners of African spiritual traditions

  • Promote accurate education and awareness

  • Build a global network of support, visibility, and empowerment

  • Ensure these traditions are respected alongside all world religions
